Project SECORE began in 2002 and later evolved to SECORE International in 2015 as an NPO and NGO. Located in USA (Ohio and Miami), Germany (Bremen), and other field locations, their mission is creating and sharing the tools and technologies to sustainably restore coral reefs worldwide.
What services do you provide the community?
We share our knowledge with partners on-site, mentor the implementation of our coral restoration approach working with the corals own reproduction, establish and foster a respective network of partners on-site and internationally, take part in education efforts, spread the word (http://www.secore.org/site/our-work/detail/global-coral-restoration-project.39.html).
What research projects/conservation efforts/citizen science do you have going on at the moment?
We have several research projects in the works (with international partners), all related to coral live history, early life performance and restoration applicability. We work with our local partners to implement sustainable larger-scale restoration (http://www.secore.org/site/our-work/detail/coral-resilience.57.html).
Do you have volunteer opportunities?
Yes, for students who want to work in that field.

Our partners on-site usually have facilities or we can help coordinate them.

What advice or tips would you give people who want to help conserve/protect reefs but do not have access to volunteering? Any actions they can do from home?
Climate change is the overarching threat to coral reefs, so any action in helping to counteract this are vital for coral reefs. Depending on your own level of knowledge, you may teach the people surrounding you about coral reefs. You can also think to share this with your classmates or go to school to teach kids (or online these days); we provide materials for that and so do several other organizations (http://www.secore.org/site/our-work/detail/coral-heroes-comic.53.html).
Are there any collaborations/partnerships you would like to highlight?
We work with many partners: these include renowned scientists, their institutions, NGO’s, authorities, professionals of zoos and aquariums, marine field stations & local foundations and their personnel, practitioners and education efforts (http://www.secore.org/site/partners.html)
